Ramsgate Beach
Description
Ramsgate Beach is a beautiful Blue Flag beach is located in the quaint village of Ramsgate, south of Margate along the South Coast of KwaZulu Natal. Ramsgate is located on the mouth of a river known by the Zulu name Bilanhlolo ("the marvellous boiler") for the bubbles caused by strong currents making it look like the water is boiling. In 1922, there was only one person living there, Paul Buck, a painter and violin maker and he called the place Blue Lagoon.
If you want to get away from the bustling Town, Ramsgate is situated amongst the indigenous coastal vegetation only a few steps down to this quiet beach with its large tidal pool and lagoon. Restaurants and the famous Waffle House are situated on the beach with beautiful views.
This beach is also equipped for launching ski-boats.
The Whale Deck can be found walking along the beach away from Margate or by road, my favorite way is along the beach to the Tidal pool, where you will find a pathway leading to The Whale Deck. Once there you will have sunning views of the ocean and from June to October you may see whales or even dolphins. In summer the whale deck even hoist lovely evening to view the moon and stars, bring a picnic basket as you will what to stay a while. Check out our events for any up coming events.
Then further on you will get Ramsgate Ski-boat beach, this beach is well known with the locals. This small beach has a restaurant right one the beach, where to can chill and watch for any boats launching or returning.
